Spring 2021 Fashion Forecast:6 Trends to Try this Spring

2 min read

With the arrival of spring comes a sense of newness and freshness: the sun is shining more, the grass is turning greener, and the doom-and-gloom of winter seems to be dissipating. This does not just apply to nature; it also applies to fashion trends. The dull, neutral colors of winter and the big, bulky winter coats will be replaced with bright colors and new trends. There is no better time to try a new clothing style or item and freshen up your wardrobe. Check out this spring’s newest and hottest trends:

Wide Legged Pants

Move over skinny jeans and leggings, it’s all about wide-legged pants this spring. Available in an almost infinite amount of colors and prints, they are available at almost every retailer. From Shein’s $10 beachy wide-legged pants to Oscar de la Renta’s hand painted floral trouser, there is a pair of wide-legged pants for every budget. One of the most appealing aspects of wide-legged pants is their versatility. For a casual look, pair them with a t-shirt, gold jewelry, and a pair of sneakers or mules. To dress them up, pair them with a blazer or billowy blouse to create a carefree, elegant look. Check out some budget-friendly options to flawlessly rock this trend this spring:

Express Black Kick Flare: Kick flare jeans are one of my personal favorite denim cuts. They are incredibly versatile and are flattering on every body shape. The flare just above the ankle combined with the high waist creates the perfect tall and graceful silhouette.

Forever 21 Faded Straight Leg Jean: These jeans give off an effortlessly chic vibe. Even when paired with a t-shirt or sweater, they add an element of sophistication. A good pair of straight-legged jeans is a wardrobe essential that everyone should have in their closet.

H&M Fuschia Suit Pants: These pants exude spring. They are so bright and colorful, perfect for a garden party or Easter dinner. Pairing them with an oversized blazer, as the model has, calls to mind the oversized suits of the 1980s, which are also seeing a resurfacing this spring.

Free People Bell Bottoms: If you’re looking to add a retro vibe to your wardrobe this spring, look no further. Free People has some of the most beautiful bell bottoms for sale in a variety of denim washes, colors, and prints. They are a bit pricier but, for a wardrobe staple with just the right amount of boldness, are worth it.

Though pleather, or artificial leather, may seem like a fall or winter trend, it is on trend for this spring. While traditional black or brown leather is also on trend, brightly colored leather is becoming more prominent for this spring. Experimenting with different materials is one of the simplest ways to elevate your style. This spring, consider adding one of the below, inexpensive pleather items to your wardrobe:

Fashion Nova Lilac Leather Dress: This dress elevates the basic shirtdress with puff sleeves, coated buttons, and an a-line silhouette. This combines two spring trends, pastels and pleather, effortlessly.

New York & Company Leather Jacket: Leather jackets are the perfect accessory for a cool night in the spring or fall. New York & Company’s leather jackets are available in a number of colors perfect for spring including vibrant yellow and blue.

Missguided Coated Denim Pants: Another trend resurfacing this spring is coated denim pants. These pants have a leather-like look, but are entirely denim. They are perfect for combining the look of leather pants and the comfort of denim.

Fancy Athleisure

The athleisure trend took off last year at the start of the pandemic and will only continue to grow in popularity this spring. This spring, as restrictions are lifted and people start to go out more, we will see people combining the comfort of athleisure and with the elegance of formal attire for a perfect business-casual look. The versatility of fancy athleisure looks is second to none. They are perfect for taking Zoom calls at home, going to the office, or going out with friends . Check out three of the biggest athleisure trends of this spring:

Fancy Pants: Drawstring joggers are one of the staples of comfortable, athletic clothing. This spring, we will see the basic cotton jogger take on a whole new personality. Leather joggers, such as this pair from ASOS, are a perfect example of the elevated joggers we will see on display this spring. Shein’s plaid jogger perfectly combines the cotton comfort of joggers with the look of proper formal pants.

Blazers & Sweatsuits: Want a simple way to upgrade your sweatsuit this spring? Add a blazer. This makes your sweatsuit or hoodie look much more polished and sophisticated, while still being just as comfortable. Pairing this plaid blazer from Shein with this inexpensive and simple sweatsuit from Amazon is a perfectly inexpensive way to look on-trend this spring.

Bold Sneakers: Don’t get your high heels out just yet- chunky and bold-colored sneakers are on trend for this spring. Combining sneakers with dresses, skirts, even pant suits is popular this spring and creates a more casual and comfortable look. Puma’s neon Future Rider sneaker’s colors are perfect for spring. Converse’s Run Star Hike are the perfect chunky, platform sneaker for the spring that is the perfect blend of chic and edgy.

Everyday Sparkle and Shine

After being in isolation and quarantine for over a year, it’s time to shine, literally. In the past, sequins have been reserved for parties and other special occasions. This spring, sequins, glitter, and shiny materials are incorporated into the everyday wardrobe. Many people may be hesitant to try this trend because it may appear too bold. However, the key to pulling off this trend is to be subtle. Include these sparkly items into your wardrobe this spring:

H&M Sequin Pants: These pants are a great example of how to subtly include sequins into your wardrobe. The sequins are not incredibly obvious and cannot be seen from far away. Pairing these with a white top and white sneakers creates a casual yet effortlessly chic look.

Face Masks: One of the best and most modern ways to incorporate sequins into your wardrobe is on your face mask. This sequin mask from ASOS is the perfect way to be stylish and safe.

En Saison Sequin Skirt: This skirt is perfect for going to the office or for going out with friends. The sequins almost create a mirrored effect which makes this skirt ever more captivating.

Bold Shoulders

This spring is all about bold shoulder tops and dresses. 1980s-style shoulder pads, puff sleeves, and partially tapered balloon sleeves are all in style. Bold sleeves add a chic touch to the outfit and almost function as their own accessory. Consider adding these trendy tops to your wardrobe this year:

Lulu’s Mesh Sleeve Bodysuit: The mesh sleeves on this bodysuit are perfect for a hot spring or summer day. This bodysuit can be dressed up or dressed down with the addition of jewelry, jeans, or black pants.

Shein Swiss Dot Blouse: The sleeves on this blouse perfectly encapsulate the light and airy nature of spring. The sweetheart neckline is also very trendy for this spring.

Nasty Gal Shoulder Pad Top: This top perfectly puts a spin on the classic muscle tee or tank top with the addition of shoulder pads. They add an extra flare to a casual spring or summer outfit.

Vero Moda Balloon Sleeve Cardigan:  This cardigan is perfect for those chilly April mornings. The balloon sleeves add an extra chicness along with the muted yellow color.

Delicate Dresses

Another trend that has gained popularity this spring is delicate dresses. These dresses are flowy with lace or embroidery details and puffy sleeves. They are perfect for spring holidays such as Easter as well as having picnics in the park all season long. Include these dresses in your wardrobe this spring:

Showpo Monaco dress in Floral: The multicolored floral design and ruffled skirt make this dress perfect for spring and summer. The subtle slit in the side is the perfect touch for a hot spring day.

Lucy in the Sky Neia White Dress: The flowyness of the sleeves and skirt of this dress make it perfect for spring and summer. The bow tie in the back is the perfect dainty and elegant touch.

House of cb Tallulah Floral Dress:  Personally, I have had my eye on this dress for months; it is one of the most beautiful dresses for spring. The neckline and floral print are perfect for the season as well as the puff sleeves.
